The Samsung 40 Inch LCD TV achieved 5 Stars in a What HI-FI review, This 40 Inch LCD TV is one of Samsungs series 7 led back lit LCD HDTV's The Samsung UE40B7000 LCD TV employs “Edge LED” technology which is different from the local-dimming LED backlighting system previously seen on the Samsung F96, A786 and A956 series. Samsung are referring to these TV’s as LED TV’s even though they are actually LCD TV’s with LED back lighting.
In “Edge LED” HDTVs, white LEDs are mounted along the edges of the screen to illuminate a cleverly arranged array of reflective plates which then steers the light forward and out of the screen.
